Mayella's Injuries TKAM

Image
Mayella had a couple different injuries as you can see on my diagram of her. Mayella had a black eye on her right eye suggesting she may have been punched or hit with something hard in the area around her eye or on her eye. Mayella also has bruising around the head which suggests further that she was hit with something hard or by someone. Mayella’s neck had clear bruising that suggests a person's hand had wrapped around her neck. In the book it states that she has a small throat so it would be easy for someone to grab her by the neck. Lastly Mayella’s arms we’re very bruised, so maybe she was trying to fight back or protect herself so they got hit as well.

Atticus listens for key details that can be used against the prosecutor. “Atticus sometimes said that one way to tell whether a witness was lying or telling the truth was to listen rather than watch.” pg 215 Atticus asks small questions that form the bigger picture in the end. “Slowly but surely I began to see a pattern of Atticus’s question: from questions that Mr.Gilmer did not deem sufficiently irrelevant or immaterial to object to, Atticus was quietly building up before the jury a picture of the Ewells home life.” pg 208 Atticus uses what seems to be innocent questions to expose Mr.Ewell and prove a bigger point, which is him beating Mayella. “Are you ambidextrous, Mr. Ewell?” “I positively am not, I can’t use one hand as good as the other.”  I believe that Atticus took his jacket and tie off because he wanted to show it was a very simple case and that he really believed this man was innocent. “... He unbuttoned his vest, unbuttoned his collar, loosened

Mayella's Injury Report

Image
Name: Mayella Ewell Age: 19 Gender: Female Report: Mayella Ewell claims to have been sexually assaulted and beaten by Tom Robinson. She had bruised arms and her left eye was deeply bruised she also had finger marks around her gullet. While her father Bob Ewell failed to bring her to the doctor immediately we were unable to tell if she had been raped. When asked which eye was bruised Heck Tate struggled to say which of her eyes had been bruised. In conclusion Mayellas bruises have been confirmed by many people, although we were not able to examine her.

Nathan and Сфдуиэы (Caleb) trial constitution violations

Issues with the Maycomb Trial Decision By Coronovirus and a little bit of caleb the non-writer The sixth amendment to the United States constitution states that all people being prosecuted for a crime have the right to, among other things, the right to an impartial jury. This clearly violated Tom’s rights as the jury had a African-American’s word against the word of two white men, and unanimously chose the white option even though they could have done a medical test on Mayella. The jury didn’t seem to even question Meyella’s word, and didn’t seem to think much about Tom Robinson’s word or Atticus’ speech. Atticus made the good point of the constitution saying that all men were equal, and that the people had America had been built on the founding conditions of making a place where everyone had the same rights. By that account, even if Tom Robinson was guilty, they should have still found solid proof that he raped Mayella.  Secondly, the trial also somewhat violate
